January 15th, 2016 — Hey Friends!
Catching a moment to give you the low down on the new album… it’s done! I’m kidding. I’ve been taking my time with this one since it’s my debut full length and a bit more in depth (12 new songs).
We started doing pre-production in late October and hit the studio in early November. We cut out for the holidays and have been back at it since the new year.
I’m working on it with my good friend and talented producer, Matt Grundy, again. I’ve had a couple opportunities to work with Matt on my previous EP’s (Along the Way, On the Sea). We really wanted to realize the full musical vision together in this full length… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Instead of working in Orange County, we’ve set up base in a log cabin at the foot of the San Gabriel mountains next to Wrightwood. There isn’t much around in the way of distractions. Just trees, dirt, mountain and fresh air.
I really wanted to get the sound of my live band on this album. So, we rounded up the Scoundrels and have been having a great time building this house of music. We’ve finished up a good bit of tracking on 10 of the 12 songs.
Looking forward to sharing them before they’re released at a live show.
